TAYLOR, HENRY
Henry Taylor, 64, the husband of Barbara Taylor of Nottaway Dr. in Nicholasville, died at his home Sept 15, 2000 after a brief illness. He was a native of Pineville, Ky. The son of the late Grant and Josie Taylor. Mr. Taylor retired after serving 20 years in the Navy and then retired from the Lex. Fayette Urban Co. Government Sanitary Sewers Division, where he was an electronics manager supervisor. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Vickie and Danny Shearer of Nicholasville; a son and his wife Scott and Serita Taylor of Buford, SC.; 3 brothers, Jennings Taylor of Carleton, Mich., Johnny Taylor of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Foister Talyor of Versailles; 2 sisters Opal Wilder of Crestwood, Ky., Betty Sue Abney of Lexington; numerous nieces and nephews; 5 grandchildren, Tabatha Shearer, Daniel Shearer, Ashley Taylor, Andrea Taylor and Jordan Taylor. He was a special son-in-law of Roy and Coreen Miller of Virginia. Preceded in death by -----. Funeral services were held at 10 am on Tuesday at Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Harrison officiating. Burial followed at the Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Betts and West Funeral Home. Bearers were David Shepard, Mike Clayton, Jennings Taylor, Jr., Mike Smith, Bill Morris, Tom Wathen. Honorary Bears were Jim Harrison, Jimmy Campbell, Carl Webb, Evoyd Horsely, Danny Green, Dan Baker and the deacons of Edgewood Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Jessamine Co. Hospice.

TAYLOR, VIOLA
Viola Taylor, 86 widow of George Thomas Taylor, Sr., died Sunday at Christian Health Care Center. Born in Winchester, she lived in Lexington most of her life and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by her son, George Taylor, Jr. and his wife Doris, of Lexington: four daughters, Elizabeth Butner of Lexington, Lucille Sons of Lexington, Norma Taylor of Jessamine Co. and Nancy Updike and her husband, Paul of Lexington, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grand children, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nancy Ellen, a son-in-law, Howard and a grandson, Anthony. Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Weds. At Kerr Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Smith officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Taylor, Jeff and Scott Updike, Charlie Hamm, Jr. and Roanald and Ernest Taylor.

Stanley Teater, 26, of Jessamine county, died at the Good Samaritan hospital at Lexington Monday afternoon after a week’s illness. He was an employee of a Frankfort grocery firm.

William Bradley Teater, a retired Jessamine County businessman and farmer, died yesterday at his home on Danville Road after a long illness. He was 91. Teater, the son and grandson of grocers, ran Teater's Grocery in Jessamine County for many years. The business remains in his family.

THOMAS, MRS. JESSIE SCOTT
Mrs. Jessie Scott Thomas died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1918, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Geo. C. Scott, in Nicholasville, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Thomas was born and reared in the Hanly neighborhood and was the youngest of six daughters. She is survived by her husband, A. C. Thomas, of Jacksonville, Fla; five sisters, Mrs. H. D. Robb, of Oklano, Jefferson County, Ky; Mrs. Sallie Scott Worthington, of Versailles; Mrs. Jas. E. Penn, of Atlanta, Ga; Mrs. J. P. Anderson, of Twin Falls, Iowa and two brothers, Geo. C. Scott, of Nicholasville, and John R. Scott, who is now with the American army in France. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon at the grave in Maple Grove cemetery at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. J. A. ????.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Guyn, Kurtz and Hager Funeral Home. George Everett Thomasson, 73, who dies suddenly (Oct. 11, 1951) . . . while driving a . . . his home on the Sugar Creek Pike. Survivors include his wife, Norah English Thomasson, one son, John Boyd Thomasson, Madisonville, Ind., two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Cauk; Nicholasville, and Mrs. C. S. Hanna, Lewisburg, W. Va., and one brother, E. R. Thomasson, Marble Hill, Mo. Rev. H. W. Dorsey officiated, and burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were G. R. and Leland English, J. C. Gorham, J. S. Mrs. Christine Burton Tremere, 56, wife of William F. Tremere, died unexpectedly Friday, March 31, (1967) at her home at 1126 Providence Road, Lexington. A native of Nicholasville, she was a daughter of the late Hazard and Mary Lavery Burton. She attended Cardome Visitation Academy in Georgetown and was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, William Gregory Tremere, Lexington, and William Gayle Snider, with the U. S. Navy in Vietnam, a daughter, Mrs. John Rall, Marion, Ohio; two brothers, John Burton, St. Louis, Mo. and Robert Burton, Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Mrs. Margaret F. Troutman died Tuesday evening at her residence, “Hollenden”, in Jessamine county, about ten miles from Lexington. Mrs. Troutman was the widow of Jacob Troutman, and leaves many relatives in this and adjoining counties. She was one of the oldest members of Old Providence Church and a woman of a beautiful Christian character. She is survived by one son, Oliver F. Troutman, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Hearne, of Frankfort, Ky.

Mrs. Jewell English Tudor, 45 of Hamilton, Ohio, died at the Fort Hamilton Hospital, Thursday, June 8, 1961, after a three week illness. She had been in failing health for the past four months with a heart condition. She was a saleslady in the Hamilton stores for the last 16 years and a member of the First Methodist Church. A native of Jessamine County and a daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Claudia Davis English. Survivors include a son, Lamar Tudor of Hamilton, Ohio; six sisters, Mrs. Ethel Burton, Mrs. Clarence Robinson and Mrs. Edward Johns, Sr., all of Nicholasville; Mrs. Oakley Lee, Maplewood, Louisiana; Mrs. Vivian Ford, Chicago, and Mrs. Ruth Shultz of Hamilton; two brothers, Buell English, Lancaster, and Davis English, Hamilton. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home in Hamilton by the Rev. William E. Goist, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial was in the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Hamilton. Pallbearers were Bobby Gene English, Wayne Shulz, Charles Victor Robinson, Charles Edward Johns, Jr., Billy Clay Johns and Marvin Phillips.
